“Hmmmm love my smelly comfy old bed”….thinks your dog

“Yuk! What a smelly old dog bed” …thinks us owners!

We’re all at home currently (Coronavirus Lockdown) as I write this,  seeing more and finding things to fix. Who else has been cleaning or decorating??

Our own dogs sleep on the Scruffs Orthopaedic Memory Foam Dog Beds in our main living space. As I have sat here evening after evening, instead of playing taxi driver to my daughter, I couldn’t help but notice the mucky colour on the top!

That’s one thing (amongst many) of the things I love about these beds….
Machine washable covers….ah the joy….
So now they’re all washed, line dried and back on their beds and looking…
and smelling more importantly….
like new!

The best bits of the Scruffs Chateau Orthopaedic Memory Foam Dog Beds
These beds have many benefits to both my dogs and I. Here are the main ones…
🐾 Machine washable covers, so less smelly
🐾 An internal waterproof layer to protect the memory foam filling, making them longer lasting
🐾 Great support for my dog’s bodies, whatever their age, with memory foam crumb that shapes to their body and recovers when they get up
🐾 A colour that sits well in my home so (when clean) they look like they’re part of the plan
🐾 Waterproof base of the bed, ideal for solid floors

What’s not to love?
And that brings me onto….

What should I look for in a dog bed?

As much as the Chateau Orthopaedic beds are great for my dogs, it is important to consider your own, and your dog’s needs in a bed.

There are lots of things you could consider when buying a dog bed. The most important factor though is whether your dog will feel comfortable in it!

Below are some features to look for when buying a bed:

Size – what size does your dog need. Are they a small or large breed?

How your dog lays down. Our last Lab always curled up so liked a smaller bed with sides to do this. Now they like to lay across their beds so a mattress style suits them better

Location of the bed – if it is located in a drafty space or near glass then a bed with walls is better. Inside a corner, under the stairs etc a mattress type can be easier to step onto

Age of your dog – what are their needs health wise? Do their joints require support? If so memory foam all the way!

Their walking style – if you have a mucky walker, one who loves the mud and puddles, a water resistant bed may be ideal. They won’t spoil and you can always pop blankets on top for colder nights

Washability – depending on your dog and your floor types, being able to wash your dog bed is something that can really help. On all our beds we share what can be washed and how. Some have covers that come off, others the centre cushion and some the whole bed can be washed.

There are other things to consider, but these will help you narrow down what your needs are in a dog bed.

The pictures throughout this blog show a few of our most popular styles of beds with Treat Your Dog customers. All have a good level of support for your dog’s body and some level of washability. Many must be like me!

However if you have differing needs in a dog bed we do have lots more. See our full range here and if you need any help please do not hesitate to contact us on info@treatyourdog.co.uk
